6. Q. How much notice do auto transporters need before shipping a vehicle? 

A. The standard time frame most car transport companies appreciate for shipping a vehicle would be at least 2 – 3 weeks notice before the delivery date you need. That’s not to say that if you needed automobile shipping service for your vehicle with immediate delivery that auto transporters would not be able to do it. It’s just that there are some things that auto transport carriers can’t control such as weather; traffic and customer drop off locations that may cause your car delivery to be delayed.  Some auto transporters do offer guaranteed car delivery times for an increase price rate. This price rate increase is because these auto transport carriers will be carrying fewer vehicles so that it can track a more precise day that your automobile will arrive at its delivery location. For example, if an auto transport company has to deliver 10 vehicles in 10 different states there is a greater chance of delay along the way, but if the vehicle shipping company only has to deliver 4 vehicles during there trip, there will be less delays and your car will arrive on time.

Note: If you need guaranteed pick up of your vehicle due to the fact that you are moving on a certain date, it would be recommended to have the car transporters pick up your vehicle at a terminal. This way you can leave your automobile there and not have to worry about if the vehicle transportation company will be late. Be sure to ask the car shipping company about guaranteed pick up and delivery at time of booking your shipment.
