Record Earnings for Harley
Harley Davidson reported record earnings even with investors second guessing the American motorcycle manufacturer. Analaysts have been fearful of slow sales but recent reports explain that the Harley showrooms are better stocked this year around. More motorcycles of certain models have been produced more because of customer demand. Some how Harley sales rose 14% in the US and sales overseas also rose, even as the motorcycle industry's sales as a whole were very low. They produce such model motorcycles as the Fat Boy, Dyna, Heritage Softail Classic, Road King, V Rod and Sportster.
Harley Davidson offered a no-down payment promotion for their Sportster and V Rod models to aid dealerships in selling the older models to make room for new ones. The motorcycles released for the company's 100th anniversary have extra exterior trim, accessories and also a price increase. The price increase greatly helped Harley's profits in 2003 as well as bikes like the V Rod that appealed to riders of European bikes. Some dealers have too many V Rod bikes in inventory and analysts noted that it is possible they havn't pushed the new model aggressively enough.
